How this section is organized
Plant Anatomy builds outward from shared tissue vocabulary to whole organs to reproductive structures, in four tiers:
- Tissue Foundations (2 pages) — meristematic vs. permanent tissue and the dermal/ground/vascular tissue-system framework every later page assumes, then the specific conducting cell types (tracheids, vessel elements, sieve tube elements) and vascular bundle arrangements built from that framework.
- Vegetative Organs (3 pages) — root, stem, and leaf structure, each covering the organ’s own tissue arrangement and, for root and stem, the monocot/dicot structural contrast specific to that organ.
- Secondary Growth & Comparative (2 pages) — how a stem thickens into wood over years of cambial activity, then a single cross-cutting page pulling every monocot/dicot contrast introduced across the vegetative-organ pages (plus two not covered elsewhere — floral merosity and pollen aperture) into one reference.
- Reproductive Structures & Survey (3 pages) — flower structure and gametophyte development, the mature seed and fruit that result from it, and a closing structural survey of how the vascular seed-plant body plan this section assumes compares to bryophytes, ferns, and gymnosperms.
